Timeless Newborn Props
Today I present to you Knox! Knox was a wonderful newborn I did pictures of before the big virus hit. He was a pleasure to work with and I was able to bust out my ‘little green bed’ to take some candid photos of him sleeping the session away peacefully. This is probably my biggest newborn prop with the exception of the hardwood floor where I take most of my photos and of course my backdrops.
I purchased this authentic rocker bed at Scott’s Antique Market where I get many of my baby props. i just love history and when I find one of these vintage-like beds I usually have my wallet out before the vendor has even told me the price! I think it’s so amazing to think that some little baby once spent their first days on this earth lying in this bed pondering the strange new world it suddenly found itself in.
Most of the vintage props I find at the market are from the South and this style of vintage rocker is from the early twentieth century… probably the 1930’s. How cool! A little baby whose parents were perhaps just trying to make it through the depression could have slept in this bed right here in Georgia. And now here we are ninety years later in our own version of a quasi-depression… a la coronavirus. Crazy! But I’m sure good times are right around the corner and in the meantime we’ve got Netflix!
