Newborn Props, Come One, Come All
Our newborn session with Angel went off without a hitch and we were able to get some great pictures! Angel’s dad is a drummer in his spare time so they brought along one of his drums so we could capture the moment this little baby started down his road to rock stardom. Many of my baby’s parents bring props to help memorialize what their lives were like during this special time in their life. I’ve taken pictures with baseball gloves, footballs, football helmets, police uniforms, fireman uniforms, hockey jerseys, every kind of collegiate memorabilia you can think of, and one race car helmet. I’m sure there’s more but that’s all I can think of right now.
And some of those photos turn out great… and some don’t. I can only stretch my photography ‘style’ so far, but I have to say one of the best photos in my portfolio is the newborn in the race car helmet. I’ll try and link to that post here. One of the worst was when someone brought a painting and had me plop it in the background. I can’t even remember what it was a painting of, but a good rule to follow is never have a picture in a picture.
Luckily, little Angel and his drum turned out wonderful. As long as the newborn props match up with my wood backdrop there’s usually a good chance the pictures will turn out okay. It’s the royal blue and deep red hockey jerseys that sometimes don’t quite jive. Either way, it was another great photo shoot and I wish Angel all the best in his future musical endeavors!
