A Newborn Hockey Fan Takes the Ice

So as you can probably tell from the newborn pictures our baby today is planning on being a future hockey star!  And if there was any doubt, he checked in to this life at nine pounds and twenty-one inches long!  Mom and I corresponded back and forth in the weeks prior to the photo shoot arranging all the particulars.  It turns out Dad and Mom are huge New York Rangers hockey fans and Dad had the newborn outfit made from a vendor on Etsy.  Along with the little outfit our newborn baby also came equipped with a pair of skates and a helmet!

I’ve had many requests over the years for sports themed newborn props.  Adding it all up, hockey for some reason ranks as the most requested sport.  Crazy considering the South is known for its college football mania.  But to date I’ve only had newborn shoots with Auburn and Georgia props.  Almost all of the hockey parents are families who have just recently moved from the North down to the South.  So perhaps it’s more than just being a fan…. there could also be some sentimentality involved in missing home.  All the more likely when you consider Atlanta doesn’t even have a hockey team!  I’m sure this is a sore point with all the Northerners who move down here.

Austen was a great newborn subject throughout the shoot and showed all the charisma and stamina that will make a great athlete someday.  I particularly love the photos of him on the white floor where he’s already showing off some of his dancing moves!  A dancer AND an athlete…. what more could you ask for?
