Another wonderful newborn session today with Miss Addison Rose. She was a delight to work with and set a high bar that will be hard to beat for all future newborns… no crying! Not a peep! That’s a first in all my years as a newborn photographer to have a baby go the entire session without making a sound. Not that I mind of course, it’s part of being a baby after all, but it almost felt like something was missing in the silence. I finally turned to her parents and asked… ‘Is this normal? Is she like this at home?’ They both looked at each other and answered ‘yes’. Amazing. A perfectly peaceful and content baby!
We were also able to get some terrific photos of the baby with her parent’s wedding bands. Normally, I delicately arrange the rings onto the baby’s toes and use my macro lens with the baby’s face blurred out in the background. But since little Addison was such a dream to work with, I just slipped the wedding bands over her tiny, little fingers and took a full body shot with the face, hands, legs, feet, and all. They turned out beautiful as all the shots did.
Lastly, I’m really happy with my new green flokati that I bought at Scott’s antique festival a few weeks ago. Scott’s is a wonderful place to locate hard to find newborn props. I get all kinds of things there from everyday throws to bowls and baskets for the newborns. Addison looks like a dream with her little headband all tucked into that green fur… I think that’s my favorite picture!
