This 8lb 5oz baby boy arrived right on schedule just as spring was beginning to arrive here in Sandy Springs. His mom had done her due diligence and called to get on my schedule when he was still 5 months away from making his long awaited appearance. This sweet family already had a precious 3 yr. old toddler, Hadleigh, who also came to my studio and was so excited to be included in the photo session with her new baby brother.
She just couldn’t get enough of hugging and cuddling him the whole time. Even though she was thrilled with him now in the family, when I actually asked her what she thought, she rather disappointingly replied, “well, he can’t play with me and my toys yet.” I have a feeling she thought that he would arrive as her new immediate playmate. 🙂
We began our session with Hadleigh and her new baby brother, Pierce together. Big sis had two beautiful lace dresses for us to use, and she looked like an angel in both. She wasn’t quite adept enough yet to hold Pierce completely on her own, but the images I captured of her sweet little face next to her tiny newborn brother were treasures.
Dad was a great help to me with his little girl, soothing her so well when she complained of being ‘itchy’ from the lace. 🙂 When the part of the session with her ended, he left taking her home to babysitter, and returned with lunches for he and mom, while I focused on getting the shots of newborn Pierce.
Mom and dad brought a newspaper hat and tiny bow tie for him to wear, which was just too cute for words! I think that image might be my favorite from this session. I have parents that often bring props that reflect their alma mater or favorite sports teams. Another great newborn shoot!
